Default Drying wet foam

Short of a major overhaul, does anyone have any ideas for draining/drying the foam between the stringers on a 20MA? I'm considering drilling a hole from the bilge though the stringer and into the foam space to allow it to drain. I'm thinking of using plugs in the holes when on the water, and removing them when on the trailer. Anyone have any experience doing this?
