Default Foam Filled Stringer Grids

Good morning all. I've been a lurker here for a while and post a good bit on the Mako board. I'm rebuilding a 1970s Mako and thought I'd seek some opinions here as well, since Seacraft pioneered the foam stringers.

1. Are there any good links to projects here you'd recommend for a foam stringer grid? Someone at classic mako suggested Strick's method, but I cannot find it?

2. When building the grid, I notice alot of folks place as strip of wood, coosa, etc. on top of the stringer or bulkhead rather than resting the floor directly on the stringer or bulkhead..can someone help me understand why?

Thanks for any assistance.

Kevin
