In posting on the thread about which is better 20 SF or MA, I got to thinking and if correct could be an amazing turn of fate.
I was a saleman at Interbay Marina, S Tampa upscale top of the line stuff SeaCraft, Mako, Stamas and new guy on the block Grady White the low end, rigging was our specialty and Jack was a master. Quite frankly the boat Jack McGaughy got had to be one of the first MA's ever delivered and I saw it in 1975 and he rigged it for himself with the new badass 175 Black Max and may be the actual boat I have now. The marina was in S. Tampa, I bought the boat in S. Tampa from a very longtime S Tampa guy. The marina would have received that boat in '75, one of the first, as we were a big dealer and Jack was the wizard of baitwells and transducer intsalls. He may have even suggested the idea of the design w/ a baitwell to Potter on a visit, because of our need for baitwells on the west coast Jack made his own mold, probably the first, for the transom baitwell on 23 I/O's which we sold a bunch of. Grady White put a baitwell where he was on his own in the 20' Overnighter just after it was introduced, he was good. This boat would have been carried by the marina for a year as a demo for Jack and titled in 1976 as mine is, wonder if its the exact same boat, it has a sweet thru hull in it, just like Jack would do as the previous owner didn't know anything about it - they just put a transom mount on that came with the Lowrance. I just got to wondering if that was the exact boat that became my dream boat that many years ago, pretty wild thought, plus when I found it, it was only 2 blocks away from Susans on the same street getting a water pump put in. It was the first day of the listing on Boat Trader and the first day I did a search, a tuesday, for 20 Seacraft's. This was after a discussion late Sunday at Anclote about getting a bigger boat and she knew it would be a SeaCraft. If all these points of fate are really true, that would be quite a jounry for a boat I saw in 1975 and becoming a dream may actually be in the driveway, pretty wild- any body want to try and figure it out from the HIN, I have no idea how.
