Default question about raising cockpit floor (stability)

I am rebuilding a 233 formula and hopefully you guys can offer some advise. I was thinking of raising the floor five or six inches to allow room for some fish boxes in the floor and to make it easier to gaff fish etc.... Do you think this is a good idea or would it affect the balance of the boat? Thanks very much for any input you can give.
