Floor Repair Questions
Hey everybody, I want to take a moment to say that I'm the latest SeaCraft fan on board. Briefly a little history...Cruising craigslist, I came across a boat and trailer for sale for best offer and with it came some restoration materials, so I sent a message offering $500 and he accepted the offer so off I went to inspect this rig...It was love at 1st sight, beautiful lines and a smart cockpit set up...with the deal came 2 rolls (40-50yds)of fiberglass mat as well as the original CC as well as One he put together (that needs to be fiberglassed), a ton of mixing cups and (2) 4'x8' high density foam board (not coosa)??? for the floor...Too make a long story short this guy has had alot of exp. rebuilding boats and had already done alot of work on this one...transom replaced and increased from 20" to 25", rub rail repaired and flared out abit with mahogany, strigers reworked and raised... now I have been looking over the posts on the website and have gained ALOT of great info. on how to proceed with this rebuild.... NOW TO THE POINT......for the floor he threw in 2 4'x8' high density foam boards...it's not coosa, and looks like hard, rigged styro foam that is yellow...The Question is, what is this stuff and if I use it on the floor with it sandwiched with fiberglass on both sides, will it have enough strength for me to attach a T-Top to it? Any help will be appreciated...
P.S. The boat is a 1971 20' seacraft and i will post some pics when it stops raining... Thanks again.
