Deck Replacement on my other boat. A few questions.

So I opened up the deck on my little steiger. It's an 85 cc-really a work boat with no liner. Great riding hull when tabbed right and very stable as the beam to length ration is pretty high. He built these for baymen on the Great South Bay back in the day. The deck has been feeling a bit suspicious and low and behold-everything was chewed up pretty good. I have all of the foam out and I'm getting ready to come up with a game plan for the new deck and structural components.
Anyway, the boat has no longitudinal stringers! As you can see it has the lateral braces that are tabbed to the variable deadrises. Are these technically called bulkheads? They had one longitudinal 2 1/2 x 6 "beam" cut into the tops and joining them together.
I am thinking I will replicate what is there just to keep the original integrity. I was playing around with the idea of making stringers but pulling all of these lateral supports out at once scares me. What would you guys do? I have read through a lot of threads here over the years and have done some re-coring of hatches, etc, so I feel like I am up to the task.
The builder is a few miles from here so I am going to contact him to see if he has any templates lying around. You never know.
Funny thing is, the boat has always felt pretty stiff, which surprises me due to the lack of stringers.
Incidentally, all of the foam that I took out was dry as a bone and it's been in there for a long time-for those guys that worry about closed cell stuff and water.
