20 Master Angler Question

I have been working on a 1976 MA and am rigging the battery and switch. Inside the starboard stern storage compartment, there is what appears to be a block fiberglassed into the hull side. Anyone know if thats what it is or is it some other super secret Potter thing. I want to mount my battery switch there but don't want to compromise anything if its important.
