Default Corecell cooler/leaning post?

I need to make a new leaning post and intend to use corecell or something similar as the core material. Originally i was going to leave the back open to allow a cooler to slide in. However i don't like the fact that Ill have to slide it out to open, we still want a tackle center above and the total height is only 32" so its more of a bench seat than a leaning post.

I've seen some built in cooler "drawers" and would like to possibly do that instead. This would mean that the bottom and sides of the leaning post would be the walls of the cooler.

My question is would corecell be an appropriate insulation or should i use a different material entirely? Id use 2 layers of 3/4" to get at least 1.5" around the drawer. There would be a insulated shelf inside with tackle storage above.

I would use vinylester or epoxy and i have done some vacuum bagging on other projects. I redid the console last winter and would finish the new leaning post with awlgrip to match.

Thanks!

Fretz
