Gentlemen:
A Little History. I owned a seaox for 18 years. (no lol) Some very good friends of mine own 20's-23's. But never got to ride in one. As I had my own boat, Most of the better fisherman up here own Seacrafts CC/I/0's There was alot of talk about how great these boats are but not having deep pockets. I thought I would never find out how good. Everyday for years, I would go to work, stopping at the end of the street, there was a 23' Smack dab in front of me at this man's house. It was driving me up the wall looking at it coming and going.. I said to myself, That's it, I'm going to get myself one of these even if it kills me. "The Hunt" I looked an looked and drove over every back road and boat yard on cape cod I found nine sceptre's but no C/C's at all. Talk about down in the mouth. No one will give them up. Or the price was sky high. 25 - 30,000 all were mid 70's. I just left a boat yard thursday evening. On friday, the new book boat-bike-RV's came out, What was in the book, a C/C at the boat yard that I just came from. I jumped in my truck, Drove like H***, It was a 1979 C/C T-Top 225 mariner, Electronics, etc. etc. All for 10,000. Something was wrong with this picture. I went ahead and looked at it anyway, looked around it, looked great. What's this? A little sand there, and here. I went back inside and asked the salesmen, How long has it sat on the bottom. I got that funny look, How did you know he asked. I got it for 7,000. The hull inside and out was just completely repainted and with al grip. off white with green rub rails and boot stripes. "Demo Time" Everything came out or off it. In went a new 100 gal gas tank. Dog House. Rodholders, leaning post, Hatches, Hy. Steering, Motor, etc. etc. One entire winter every night and weekend. "Showtime" Spring Launch- Test run, WOW! Oh Crap! Where's that water coming from. About 2 gallons in 4 hours. In the bow, under the hatch, there was a through hull fitting that was brand new. They put it in but never put any caulking around it. Thats why it went down. Pulled that out and sealed it up. Bingo. Dry as a bone. Good Lord, now I know why everyone that has one kept telling me, you just wait. you will love it. Boy were they right. I will post pictures of finished boat as soon as the winter covers comes off. Perhaps, more stories to come and questions as well. Thanks, Steve |
