counter rotating
I have came across a set of cc yamahas that the owner said he would seperate, I am interested in only buying one. Can you split up cc motors, is there any draw backs?

I know of a couple of people that had used the left-handed counter-rotating engine as a single, and it worked just fine.

It will work fine. The only thing is the foot on a counter rotater is weaker. This is due to the way the gears are in the foot.

If you can try and buy the non counter. If something does happen in the gearcase it is much cheaper to fix then the counter is.

I agree, the counter rotating motor will work fine. I had one on my SeaCraft and it ran great, worked great, never had a problem. Expense of repair, maybe a bit more if you need to do it but, it really is not that much of a difference. Time to repair, if needed in the future, might be a little bit longer if parts have to be ordered but, that would be minimal. Just remember, when you are buying that prop, make sure you tell them it is a CR motor!! Made that mistake once, just slips the mind sometimes. When you get older, you get that CRS disease...
