cut out transome
I have a 1975 23 ft cc seacraft that I just cut out the transome and removed both gas tanks after replacing transome was wondering if I should put large scuppers in or will this be a problem. I plan on installing a hermco bracket and have twin 150 merc optis i know people have had problems with the scuppers but have not even used the boat before, do I need to raise the deck and finally does anybody have a mold for a bait well to go in the space between transome hatches. when I get a chance I will take some pic thankyou for any help.

Re: cut out transome
As for the scuppers if you are re doing the transom with composite material I would go ahead and run the scuppers through the transom like most other boat builders now a days. If you are using plywood lamination two more big holes are only two more arrears that water can seep into the transom and cause problems 10-20 years from now. The bracket you chose will give you ample flotation for the motors so I don’t see any other problems for you. As for the deck I don’t see any reason why you would want to raise the deck after you closed off the transom with that bracket. I maid a live well and moved it forward approx at the same location under deck where the newer 23 live wells are. As for you with that bracket and closing off the transom I would put it above deck I just used scrap fiberglass pieces and epoxy and built a oblong 32 gal tank make it thick and you can gel coat the inside and outside it’s time consuming but not that hard to do. Strick is the pro on making molds like original boat builders I am sure he could give you pointers on that approach.
