The 65 Moesly 19 Bowrider arrived today via RAD Transport from St. Louis:

The good new is that the transom seems fine, as does the motor and driveline. Even the floor is solid. But she has a lot of hairline cracks throughout the hull and interior.

Bottom line is that to do her justice, I would have to remove the cap and liner, make glass repairs, paint and put her back together and re-wire her. No small task, but a funn project for 2006...

Strick,

That trailer is on an incline and has a rail down the middle with a 2" ball connected to a winch, so they can pull it on and off. There are ramps on the back. Slick setup. I wanted to use our forklift, but he had it safely on the ground in less than 5 minutes.

Lookin Good Otto

Be sure to post pictures as the refurbishing takes place. Good Luck with her and surely this "Classic" will be worthy of the Front Page on CSC

Mine's nicer then yours.. Just kidd'in Otto.. Looks good, hope you get it in the water soon. Mine has the same cracks on the cap as yours does. It looks like most were caused by the fact that fiberglass boat building was still new to most. None of the screw hole were drilled with the right plot bit and thus caused a lot of the cracking you have around the holes. Plus colored gel doesn't take the sun well either

Don,

Thanks for the comments. There are ALOT of "spider" cracks all over the boat, but nothing looks deep or structural. Like you said, my sense is that the gel coat was not as good as what we have today.

I feel pretty obligated to grind out the 80 miles of spider cracks down to the glass with a narrow abrasive wheel and fill it with West System 2 part with filler. Do you think that will take care of it or will they come back through the new paint when I start beating the crap out of it?

Any comments on repairing spider cracks will be appreciated.
