Post or Seats?
I think I know what most of you will say,but I'm gonna ask anyway. I just recored the fuel inspection hatch with nidacore on my 23sf i/o. Obviously I had to take up the pedestals. As is always the case, one job leads to another, so now what to do-go back with the pedestals and seats? leaning post? with or without backrest? I'm very tempted to get a post, but I'm working with 41 inches between the console and the engine box. I'm thinking I need a foot between console and post for my big feet and a$$, and at least a little room behind the post to open the box and to pass behind the post.
I had low pedestals before that seemed only good for getting in my way, so at the very least I have to raise their height. What would you guys do? (This will help me stall a little while longer in making a decision). |

Re: Post or Seats?
Is there anyway you could incorporate the leaning post into the engine box? 41 inches is a distance but it might be a litlle less intrusive. Just a thought. Any pictures of the interior for reference?

Re: Post or Seats?
Don't know bout you but my big feet came with big every thing (6'4" 240lbs) not shur if 1ft between the post and console is enough havn't measured mine but I think its about 18 inch's, just perfect for us. Never thought about the engine cover I have a outboard 23cc good luck. Maybe a custom made narrower post could be an option for you.

Re: Post or Seats?
I went from seats to leaning post,I have bout 18"s between also. The biggest thing to look for is the angle of the rod holders. Mine have a slight angle which allow me to walk behind them when carrying rods.I'll be selling My pedistel seats here real soon. I think their factory ?Juz' don't need em'They were going toMy Bro for his underwater Duck Blind. He'll get one mo' shot at em'

Re: Post or Seats?
It seams that the leaning posts are getting bigger and bigger. I would suggest an old school style rocket launcher. Not sure how to best explain it. With the old style you could use seats with pedastals and then take the seats off and mount the leaning post to the pedastals.

Re: Post or Seats?
How useful do you guys find the backrest? I think I am definitely going with a post now-just need to know what to look for. That guy Ray that some of you ordered from seems like one option. I can't afford Birdsall right now. I'm wondering if I will regret getting one without the backrest.

Re: Post or Seats?
The only time I use the backrest is when Cruising thru the Neighborhoods of the Rich & ~~~~~~ ! Juz' lean back steer with My Toes & well Ya get the Picture! She uses it all the time cuz' My SeaCraft rides so Smoooooth!I'd say go ahead & get it.I prefer the solid bar not swing as I 've mounted 2 rod holders on them.No Loss of rod storage. I've never taken it off.I'll see if I've got a Pic. I also think the rod holders are about 10*s (angle)?
Tug The 83' Seacraft link below may show a picture of it too.
