Default redoing decks

Hello I'm new and I own a 88 23 seacraft that is in desperate need of love. I have gotten tons of ideas and info from your website thanks. I have a question. I am re doing rotten decks. I already ripped them out. Now I plan to re core them with nida core. However when coring the old plywood out I noted that it was cut into small squares. I suppose in order to provide flexibility. Should I imitate this or can I simply lay on the 7x4 sheets . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS live in Pensacola anyone else in the area?

This was the standard manufacturing method when using plywood for the core. The plywood was cut into squares so you could easily squish them down onto a wet mat on the part in the mold and get good adhesion. It does not apply to what you are doing.

Your current coring is probably 3/8" so using half inch coosa is probably not possible. I am in the process of redoing my entire deck and used 3/8" coosa, and three layers of 1708 & 1808, then a layer of 6oz to keep my fairing to a minimum.
