Default other hulls

In my search for a 23 cc Seacraft I have run across to other hulls that "appear" to be similar to a Seacraft, they are the "Seabird" and the "Anacapri". Does anyone here have any information or opinions on these hulls. Thanks for any input, bradc

the seabird, and if its the anicapri im thinking of are both very similar to the origional rampone 24-formula23-contender/seavee/whitewater25- all derivations of the same hull and all very good riding boats, but none have the infamous variable deadrise, and thats what makes a seacraft a seacraft

I have the Anacapri 25 Holiday and although it's a great riding hull, especially in heavy weather due to its weight, it doesn't have the VDH, it has the standard V-hull strakes. I would love to take a ride in a Seafari 25 to compare it against, I imagine the Seafari would have a softer ride although it would probably roll a bit more at rest due to its deeper deadrise angle.

One little item that is overlooked is the strake's on a SeaCraft have a funking angle to them that actually trap a pocket of air as the water flows off them = air cushion ride - thats why they never slam, except a stinking quartering sea

I followed a 23 Seabird all over the Bahamas one year; it was generally rough enough that he had to slow down so I could stay up with him in my little 20' Seafari with a 115 hp outboard! The old Seacraft 21 we were running with could have run off and left both of us if he'd wanted to. It's a very deep V, which requires lots of power (& fuel) to push, but it has very wide chines, which evidently screws up the ride; I was surprised that it didn't ride better. The Formula 23 is a good riding boat, but it still doesn't match the Seacraft 21!

I looked at a nice Seabird when I was looking for my boat it had very low gunnels not a very deep boat.Looked wet and maybe scary. It did not compare to my 23 cc. Was not for me but nice boat.

I used to have a '72 23-footer and it had LOTS of freeboard due to the non-self bailing feature - the deck was below the water line. Not any wetter than a 23 SC. I wonder if the one you saw had some deck modifications? Either that or it wasn't the 23'.
