I was thinking of doing mine you said you stripped the glass out but did you have to remove the entire frame from boat? Is it possible to do while on the boat or NO? THX

American marine has been contacted and samples are on the way for # TP-139, TP-814 and TP-251.

Four years ago I pulled out all the gaskets and plexiglass to replace a few panels and repaint the welded alum channel windshild. Used epoxy etching primer and epoxy top coat, the job turned out well, did it all in white. However made the mistake of throwing out all the gasket material as it was sun burnt, cracking, dried out and an off tan color.

The frame itself is basically a squared-off U shape, using weatherstripping to fill the gap and high quality silicon sealer for finish, it looked good for one sesaon, then mildew and now needs a replacement along with a couple of new plexi panels.

Looking forward to cleaning up the windscreen look with new gaskets.

Yeah definately can do this on the boat. Make sure it is warm day so the rubber is soft. The hardest part is removing the old stuff.

American marine quoted me $2.00 a foot for the TP-139 ouch!! you were not kidding about bringing your check book! I'm going to look at other sources to see what I can come up with.

I think things have changed at American Marine.I may be mistaken but I could swear that I paid less than a dollar a foot when I bought the weatherstrip from them 2 yrs.ago.
I do know that when I spoke to him(think it was Mike)he knew exactly which weatherstrip I needed.

Installing it is very easy.A couple 2" and 3" putty knifes with the corners rounded and the edges dulled a bit work great.
Start in a corner with the top of the small concave side lined up along the edge of the frame,and the flat side of the strip laying on the glass.
Slide the putty knife under the flat side and apply pressure while wiggling the blade a bit to push it in.You can tell when it's in place by feel and you'll see the flat side immediately flatten itself against the glass.

They(American Marine),also told me to use just a good quality clear silicone to bed the glass in place.They said this is what they use on all their current windshield glass.I used GE silicone.I did the glass one day and the weatherstrip the next.
