Trailer and Tarp Storage GEMS
Just wanted to share a thing or two I've learned about my trailer...
LOADING PERFECTLY ON BUNK TRAILER - I had a problem with this for years - but it was done twice a season - in and out so I didn't bother. Even twice a year it was always a hassle. I picked a lot of brains on this site and finally I installed full length V bunks made out of pressure treated decking wood. While the boat was on the trailer, I lined up and installed mounting brackets and the decking wood to make a V at the V of the hull. WORKS FLAWLESSLY. BUNK MATERIAL - I located old fire hose - the real stuff. Split it down the middle and mounted with SS screws to the bunks - durable and smooth ! BOAT COVER - I'm old school so I use an excellent quality poly tarp - brown seems to be the best that is not an eye sore. The thing I've been doing that works great is to use 12", 1/2" bungee made into loops ( I buy bungee by the foot - around 20-25' ) around the tarp grommets. The loops are held by hogs rings - I used brass ones - then I attach the poly strapping / or rope ( I use the poly ) to the bungee and I can really tighten the tarp up without pulling the grommets out and a steady tight pressure is kept on the tarp all winter long. This setup will last years and years. Hope these help someone out there. |
