I have a 93 Ocean Master that I am redoing the transom. The stringers are no wood hollow box stringers. WHat is the best way to cut and reattach the stringers to the transom. ANy help would be appreciated.

Use a sawszall to cut the stringers back 4-8in or so, leave enough room to work. Replace your transom core, then you have 2 choices. You can either take the glass piecs you cut out and glass them back in. (my boats pieces were long gone so I didnt have this option) SO I took foam board and made a form that matched the existing stringer size and shape. Then I laid glass all over everything, 3in forward over the original stringer boxes, and tabbed into the transom. After everything kicked off, I drilled limber holes so any water that may get in outside the stringers will drain to the bilge.

Before I shaped them round on top, I had just dropped in and cutting to fit.

Default Box Stringers

I cut my box stringers back about 8'' and set them aside to reuse later. After I replaced the transom and glassed 2 layers of 1708 over it, I then replaced the box sections and used 6'' biaxle tape to set them in place covering all joints and taping them to the new transom. I then covered them in a couple of layers of 1708. Then I installed another layer of 1708 over everything. (I am using marine epoxy) This is my first build and I am just repeating what I had seen others do before me. This is not the final picture but will give you an idea of how I did mine. You can see where I cut the box. I've seen others make a larger splice. (Check out Shines thread).
What size wave buster "Ocean Master" did you find. I had a friend who owned a 31 footer with a tower; man what a machine!

Good Luck Bill
