Evercoat everglass for fairing
Has an anyone used this product for fairing? It has Kevlar and short strand so I'm guessing it should be strong. Any thoughts?

I have never used it. But Kevlar is about the last choice for something I would want to sand. That said, I don't see kevlar on the MSDS for that product. Regardless of what the brochure says. Lots of talc and dolomite in the MSDS is what I saw.

The can also states that it is waterproof.

And they base it on a 24 hour immersion test...
I'd look at something else for a boat... |

I have had good luck with vinylester and microbaloons. If you are in the northeast, I would check with mertons in Springfield Mass. They have a decent website, and they are super helpful on the phone.

That's mainly what i use also, talc is a cheep thickner but it is much heavier than other types. It is also good to rub on your arms to keep the itch down. That is if your not immune to the itch yet.

Adding talc reduces shrinkage and cracking.

I have heard it will reduce shrinkage as well and even used it when making fillets or when applying a thick layer but I shied away from it and worried that it would possibly absorb water. Is that a myth or can talc actually absorb water threw porous polyester resin?

I have been using the 3M for the past 15 years here. A little pricy but great stuff. I pay around $110 a gallon.

Thanks for the replies. I was just trying to look for something at the local marine and automotive stores here in hawaii. Shipping from the mainland just costs way too much. But I guess I'll have no choice.
