Looking to buy a seacraft
Hello everyone. As the title suggests I am looking at a 2000 20ft seacraft with a 135 optimax with 250hrs with T top and rocket launcher. My good friend has a potter built 23 and he told me that it is solid boat, but I wanted to get some input from people on this forum about the boat. My other friend with a totally redone 23 potter told me that there were "problems" with the 20 and that he would not buy one so I wanted to get some input on that as well. I negotiated the boat to $12,000 so I dont think its a bad deal for the condition. Let me know what you think and thank you in advance!

Don't know how much knowledge you'll find here as this site is favorable to the "Classic SeaCrafts" early 60's -1980.
I would get a good marine surveyor to check any potential boat purchase

No I defintely will get a mechanic to check everything out with it, but I just wanted to see if anyone on here can give me some input on the later 90's to early 2000 seacrafts. I defintely respect and love the classic seacrafts, but I am not looking to put as much money and time redoing an older one when those 90's-2000's seem much more turn key.

I've got a 2003 20' and find its an ok boat, like all 20's that have not had a floor raised, a little wet at the stern, other than that i have found no real issues. Not alot of storage since the floor is not raised in the bow.
I've owned all makes and year models and enjoy the old as well as the new. |

looking to buy a SeaCraft
The newer SeaCraft's are just fine. I have a 2000 21 that I bought new in 2001. No issues whatsoever - repowered it with a 175 Etec in 2012 and it's a great boat. If you happen to be interested in a 21 rather than a 20 let me know. Might be interested in moving up.

Had a 05 20 and never had any issues with it. I seen the boat your referring to though not in person but the price seems pretty legit, especially if you don't want to rebuild one.

I have a 2000 23 ft seacraft. It has been a great boat…. no issues..
My opinion is that any issues in a 15 year old boat would have surfaced by now. I had a 1978 20 ft master angler for years….. great boat. I have never been on a newer 20 sea craft but I do like the lay-out.
