18sf bracket
I've looked and read a lot on here wanna close my transom possibly when I get my floor redone and have done research into possibly bracketing my 18sf. doesn't look like hermco brackets still being made. I've seen few 18s with brackets but no body has truly commented on b4 and after characteristics. found a company south of me and they quoted me 1550 for a welded bracket with 18in setback and full deck because will be doing some sport diving. it had a buoyant well centered on it and I plan to put my 2 trolling motor batteries in from box and have tank shifted forward and possibly the console but want some opinions of people who have actually done it and maybe some pics. I am gunna stay with lighter Yamaha 2 stroke 115 maybe a 2 stroke 130 v4 down the road. I know this has been asked a lot but haven't found any response from those who have done it.

I had a 78 sf20 with a 225 mounted to a raised transome and without the drag of the t top was getting 64 on the gps Fun ride but way to much weight on the back you will be much happier with your planned setup I would think.

What year is yours? Mine is a 75 and I run a DF140 on the transom. Planing speed is around 17-18kts. Lotta weight in the stern. My transom was waterlogged and rotten in places, extra weight. Had a 20" transom and water stayed in the splashwell, had to keep plugs in the bulkhead to keep water out of the cockpit. The newer models were built to newer standards and, maybe, you won't have much trouble. A 225 is SOOOOO much more power than you need. Much over 35 kts and she starts to fly. I'm going back with composite transom raised 3", composite deck, moving console forward, NEW larger fuel tank moving forward, batteries under console, mounting motor on a 3" setback manually adjustable jackplate so I can dial motor height in. Should be posting numbers in a couple weeks. BTW, I'm running a 21P stainless prop that, I believe, has some extra cup in it. Good luck.

man I looked thru pics on ur profile thats a beautiful battlewagon u got there. ur boats pretty much my long term goals love that thing. I would love to get rid of the front raised portion like urs has and just have anchor box in front and a hatch for my batteries for Rhodan trolling motor. Is hermco brackets still around? or was bracket are u using. I currently have a 115 yams 4cyl, ideally id love to make my boat as beautiful as urs and put the newest 2 stroke 130 yami I could find and go thru it fine tooth and paint her white! sorry ur boat just got me excited lol I like the look of the 18s better than 20 for some reason.

No the Hermco brackets are gone for now. I bought one of the last ones. Search for "brackets here" there are alternatives. Best of luck. Ed |
