Tongue jack
Well I decided I was sick of spinning the jack handle like a fan blade to get it up and down the cranking it on or off the ball ! So after watching my brother in law push a button to raise the tongue on his camper I thought why doesn’t anyone use a electric jack on there boat trailer ? Saw Sea Choice makes one with ? Reviews . Could not find a base to use any of the multiple others brands made so I started making one —-will see how it works out and report back.

Tried it but kept forgetting it and really didn’t like it even on the hi torque setting
Had made a adapter to hook onto the base of the handle . Have seen where some have jut off the arm and welded a nut on then used a socket - better? Thought I would just use a jack that was designed for the purpose . |

I love a challenge as well.... But sometimes you come to reality !
Will put hours and hours into reinventing the wheel and discover could have bought a used one that needed work from an RV dealer... Did one for my sisters horse trailer 20 years ago.. Local RV shop had a pile of old ones, paid $25 for a 10,000 lb. one. Rewired, modified in a half a day and wired it through the trailer wiring harness to the vehicle ... Not sure if she still has the trailer, will ask for pic if so. It happens to the best of us guys that love to engineer and tinker. Prime example for me was my 2005 JD 790 that did not have 3rd function hydraulic and I needed it ! Bought a 12V 12,000 lb linear actuator on eBay welded the eyes on the ends and used a four wheeler winch solenoid / switch ! Poof, it worked !! Next, took my tow behind Swisher mower and modified it ... Beats driving into the woods with the PTO mower on back. Sorry for going off track, show & tell is fun..

Tell ya the truth no one had posted in this section in months got tired of seeing the same thing so I was doing the project and thought I would get the thing moving and see what others thought of my plan . There’s a lot of bigger boats out there with manual jacks that must also be a Pain in the Ass to run up and down. Got to admit I do love building stuff ! Good thing to because I can ever seem to find anything for my boat that would just fit without playing with it in some way!

Well it’s installed and goes up and down. Time will tell how it does. Galvanizing would have been preferred but with store and lube sprayed on the electrical connections and various other locations and the fact that it shouldn’t be getting dunked in salt water it should last a while
