Hello guys-
Could you answer a question for me? Recently I got a good deal on a new Raytheon L750 fishfinder with a transom mounted 'ducer. I installed it yesterday and all went well, I believe... but my depth display will not give me a reading as it sits on the trailer in my driveway. It flashes continously "0" and will not give me any sort of reading. Does this sound like something that will go away after I splash the boat? I was wondering if you may have experienced this? Evrything else seems to work fine, but I cannot get a reading and it seems to me that maybe I won't until it hits the water....? I dunno, call me crazy.... -Hooper |

Hoop = finders need fluid to pass thru - the echo won't echo with just air. Needs something liquid or at least semi liquid before getting to the liquid...

Hooper I think you hit the nai on the head ,I don't know about the Raytheon but I just installed my new Furuno 6100 and the first thing I did was turn it on. I got the same result as you. After about twenty minutes of looking at the features and the screens I went in the house to read the manual some more. THEN I noticed a warning in the front of the manual NEVER to operate the unit out of the water as damage to the transducer could result. Great, I thought I messed up the brand new fishfinder, but when I launched the boat It worked great and hugs the bottom at cruising speed, I now know that it needs water under it to work, I'm thinking the the Raytheon will probably work once you get it in some water. Good luck Jon
