SeaStar Hydraulic Hoses
On a 23' center console, what length of hose is needed to set up SeaStar hydraulic steering? From what I understand it comes in increments of two feet. To anyone who is using the SeaStar system, what length did you order?
Thanks. Rich

Re: SeaStar Hydraulic Hoses
Hey Rich
I don't know what your schedule is, but I will be taking my motor off in November while I enclose the transom on my '78 23 ft CC. I will be adding a bracket therefore I will have to install longer hoses. I assume I have to order new ones that will be longer to accomodate the extension. I don't think I can add to the ones I have, so maybe we can work something out on my existing Seastar hoses! Let me know what you think.....

Ha Rich
Measure twice and then add about 4 feet or so this hose bends pretty good so it is not as critical as the shifting cables. FellowShip |

Re: SeaStar Hydraulic Hoses
I put a new sea star helm on my sceptre and needed 22' hoses. Your CC will get away with less.

Re: SeaStar Hydraulic Hoses
Chuck, if you are adding a bracket and filling in the transom, the best way to do the hoses is to install a s.s. barb with a female end on each side, all the way through the transom. It has a nut and washer on each side, mount it high. Hynautic and Seastar both make them in various lengths, 1", 2", 3" etc. Then, you use the same hoses to get to the transom that you have now, and add 4' rs to go from the transom to the cylinder. You can just run them through the rigging tube on OMC and mercs, but the yamaha rigging tubes and the transom sleeves are not large enough in diameter to accomodate all the engine, fuel, electric and shift cables along with the hydraulic lines. saves some $ on buying new hose sets.
