Re: Second Bahamas trip
Great write up for sure. I felt like I was there and I hope to make the trip one day.
I have been doing a lot of research and reading up on making the trip to Bimini. Maybe 2011 or 2012.

Re: Second Bahamas trip
GO! Bimini is an easy trip. You just need to watch the weather, have a very well maintained boat and carry the tools manuals and spares you might need. There are some good threads here that talk about how to do it and what to bring.

Re: Second Bahamas trip
There is a story behind the name, of course.
Years ago, we were anchored in a cove off the middle of Guana Cay in Abaco, long before Nippers existed. There was one other boat in the anchorage, a 45 ft Hatteras Sports fish. The boat wasn't nearly new, but it stood out, because it looked great. It had the patina of a boat that is used a lot, is much loved and maintained to perfection. In the cockpit was an old, white haired guy, obviously in good shape, who was puttering around, doing little jobs, straightening stuff, etc. It was clear that he was the owner/captain and the boat was his joy. The name of the stern was "Someday Came." Sure looked like that day had come for him and I feel the same way. Name's not on the stern yet, but will be soon. Connor |
