You could build the bracket on the transom like I did this Whaler. No need to bolt it. This was a hull extension but you could do a bracket the same way. A little easier than building it stand alone from transom patterns and then bolting it.

Frizzle, the curve is staying. I wrapped up a new transom and stringers a little while back. Plus I do like the looks of it.

Hermco, thanks for the advice. That's pretty much what I was thinking.
