Maybe first hook the new one up temporarily, without removing the old one or installing the new one, and see if that solves the problem? Then if it still isn't working return the new key switch. Only time I've had anything like that it was an issue with the neutral safety switch being off a ridiculously tiny bit

Yes the gauge works without the key on and no the engine won't crank.

There is another connection that I believe would power the gauge once the key goes on but since there is no power when I turn the key I won't know.

Either way no power to the Yamaha gauges

So $184 dollars for a new key switch and it's alive again.

Well I got out to the boat this morning to check. Motor in gear, turn on key yamaha gauges come on. Pulled the kill switch lanyard turned key, gauges come on. I had my keyswitch go bad a few years ago and I opted to get an aftermarket one for about $28.

I went the same way and bought a eBay aftermarket switch and it lasted 6 months.

Let's see what happens with a Yamaha OEM switch

So it might do me well to know how to hot wire it when I'm 20-30 miles offshore. Just in case.

So the switch is fixed but when I went out Sunday my hydraulic steering cylinder now wants to take the boat left all the time unless you are constantly turning it right. Called a few people and it's rebuild a old cylinder for 4oo or buy a new modern one for 500. Ordered the new one and while I'm at it I'm going to change out the various filers on the engine.

When it rains it pours I guess Jorge. Good job on switch. I think you’re making right decision on steering too. Hopefully you can get back to boating soon.

Today I switched out the filter in the vst tank and the filter right behind it took about an hour for both. Also changed the fuel water filter to a new one. The ones I took out seems clean so maybe it didn't solve the surging issue. There was one filter on top of the vst I didn't swap because it cost $100+ but if this don't do it I'll get that one also.
Now the gas that came out of the vst looked very clean also

Tommorow I get the new hydraulic ram installed in the morning.
