48.7 with my 23 Sceptre and a 2001 250 EFI Mercury OB at 5600 rpm, I did alot of prop testing to find the perfect size pitch etc. ended up with a 3 blade stiletto 17 pitch I think 15 inch

Serenity. I think you should go with the 140 suzuki's. Your boat is a little heavier than mine so the extra hp and torque would be helpful to you. As for my guess, you would get about 5 to 6mpg trolling, 4k rpm's with 14x23's will net 10.5 gph and 25-26kts with (for about 2.6 mpg) bump it to 4500 rpm's for 14gph and 31kts,(still 2.4mpg or so) and my guess is about 45mph top. 115's will move your boat very well also. As for the hole shot, you will beat any single motor on the planet, except maybe for merc's 300hp, but who has one of those anyway?

Serenity-What specific Pacific trailer did you get and where did you buy it. How much was it? I have a 1978 23 Seacraft Cummings 250HP inboard diesel with a tower which I plan on trailering to Santa barbara from Cabo San Lucas in Spring but I will need a new trailer. Did you get Galv.,disc brakes,etc? What weight rating? Thanks, Cabo Bob

Briguy, thanks for the info. Just returned from Ca. and I purchased the 23'5"Sceptre I looked at. Also got a new Pacific trailer there and arranging to ship to Hi. Plan to put 115 4 stroke Suzukis on. Will be selling my present Sceptre soon. Thanks for all your advice and info. Great web site.

Sorry about that...hit the wrong key. Anyway, I didn't feel to comfortable with the existing trailer and with the limited time in So. Calif., I basically ordered one without much research into pricing. Ordered mine through The Boat House of Anaheim, Inc. Ph. (714)635-2628/(714)635-2652Fax. Tim (owner) ordered it through Pacific Trailers in Chino, Ca. (909)902-0094. Model G23TW5-10 9,999 lbs GVWR tandem axle galvanized with disc brakes w/stainless lines,side guides, extra boards, etc. They apparently have a pattern for the early Sea Crafts. This is a heavy about 2,000 lbs but I wanted the 16.5 tires. Weight for boat will be heavier after I get done with it. Pacific also has a No. Calif. site 7725 Enterprise Dr.,Newark,Ca. Ph.(510)797-1245. www.pacifictrailers.com. I'm paying around 4-4500 for it. Here in Hi., trailers this size between 6000 to 8000 for custom. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comeback and trailer info. Looks like you got the best-what is your tow vehicle? Got to be a pick-up. I was looking at a Tahoe with the big V8 but it is marginal for this weight. Cabo Bob

I bought a 2003 Evinrude 225 last fall and got 40 mph with an aluminum prop. I have in hand a stainless and the peanut gallery seems to think I'll do better with that, for what it is worth!

For Cabo Bob:
I tow with a 3/4 ton 4/4 Silverado with a 5.7 Vortec and 4:10 gear. Hopefully enough to tow the 23 I bought, its plenty for my present 20' Sceptre.
