This is a very nice boat and I agree you could not find a project boat and build it as nice as this for the selling price.I have seen this boat and it is represented with total accuracy. This boat could end up in my driveway.

I have attempted to be as honest as possible. Instead of pointing out all the great stuff and somewhat not discussing the items that are not perfect, I believe a false representation can occur. I have folks from very far away trying to make decisions on the boat here in Florida. I would not want is to have someone come a long way only to find I had misrepresented the boat. It is as described. I believe there are 3 people on this site that have put their eyes on the boat. For any of you who want to know the real deal, just ask. Thank you for your comment.

Took a trip to the sandbar on Friday. When we returned to the dock, the Coast Guard was stopping people from going beneath the bridge due to FPL running new power lines. Fortunately, the dock was just prior to the no entry zone. Once I docked the boat, the Coast Guard Folks decided it was a good opportunity to make sure I had all the right gear. When they checked my registration they were amazed it was a 1973. I could hear them talking about it on the radio. It is nice to have something special.

OK, I have a very unusual request. I put my boat up for sale right before Christmas. The winter is a slow boat buying season, however, 4,541 views of the post do demonstrate some interest. For whatever reason the boat has not sold. Most would argue the price was perhaps too high and I have not been flexible enough. Just about the time I started to reconsider my decision to sell several people are now interested. The first choice goes to someone in VA. I will not tell you his username but he does monitor this site regularly. I have agreed to lower my price and he is ready to take an airline flight from VA. I have provided photos and described it the best I can, but after the last guy (and you know who you are) I can not help think I have missed something. This guy was sure the boat was just what he was looking for. He had the checkbook in his hand and was on the way. He left explaining he wanted to investigate purchasing a new trailer and he would call me later. No call later and I viewed a post announcing he bought another boat a week later. For those of you who have come by to view the 73' SF and not decided to purchase...tell the perspective buyer your thoughts before he gets on the plane. I have nothing to loose, I want a happy boat owner.
OK Hermco, you came to survey for a propesctive buyer so you probably have the most objective opinion. Is this boat what I say it is? |

Fiasco is now the proud new owner of the 1973 23' SF. I agreed to refurbish the trailer prior to his visit from VA. I normally shy away from projects such as this, but I broke out the air compressor and impact wrench and got the job done. I had some high grade 316 stainless hangers and spring retainer plates fabricated from a machinist friend of mine that I work with (please don't tell). I also installed 1/2" SS bolts and lock nuts on everything. Even went as far to purchase 4 new tires and rims since VA is very long journey from Vero Beach. The axles and bearings were fine. I figured if Fiasco decided against the purchase I would not have to worry about the trailer for a few years. Fiasco was very happy with the condition and how it was represented. He is now presently in tow to VA. I phoned him last night and he was having some trouble with his tow vehicle. He borrowed an older Suburban that is running real hot. He was traveling at 60 mph with the heater on to keep it out of the red. He intends to stop in Atlanta and swap out trucks. He said trailer is doing great. Everyone wish him congrats. He informed me that "Her PayCheck" is soon to be changed to canary yellow.

Everyone who called or considered this boat really lost out. I arrived to inspect and I could not believe the condition. Yes, it needs a few things but John (Her Paycheck) over killed the weak points. He truely wanted me to know everything wrong on the boat before I made the trip. It is a great boat. I have been looking at SCs for 6-8 months and NEVER found one like this (for sale). Considering the condition/mods I consider it a deal. I can do the math in my sleep. I asked John to "patch" the trailer up for the trip home and he rebuilt everything. I had to argue and negotiate with him to help pay for parts. He threw in everything but the wife and kids. He also called several times while I was on the road to check on my "adventure" home. John is first class. John, next time you sell a car, boat, please call. I will be first in line to buy. You name the price. Thanks much.
As John indicated, I did have car problems coming home. Had to divert to my old home, Atlanta to buy another tow vehicle. Sorry to report that the new paint will have to wait until the end of summer. Oh well, I can use it now! Ikan Beazer (Mark) took me fishing in Stuart on Tuesday. It was great meeting him and fishing on the holy grail of 20' Seacrafts. Truely a great boat and owner to match. Caught one dolfin...... Thanks Mark. Come to Virginia and I will take you croaker fishing. Sorry I couldn't stop by and me you Chuck. I was pushed for time. (and ended up needing it on the trip) Thanks everyone else for all the advice and direction during the boat hunt. You guys have been great. I'm in now. Am I officially part of the cult now?
