Extra Fuel Tank

I am currently totally restoring a 1973 23' Tsunami that I picked up last year in unbelievably mint condition with no sponge in deck (Right place at right time). I was recomended to put additional fuel tank in fish box since deck is in such great shape rather then cut deck. Current tank is only about 58 gal between fish box and engine box (I/O). I have already redid the transon since hole was for OMC and I am sticking in a Mercruiser 350 300hpMPI with a Bravo 1 drive. I need to hold about 100 gallons total of fuel for a 150-175 mile nm range (Day Chunking). Any suggestions?

I thought that the 23's had much bigger tanks than you state. Is there anymore room where the tank is now? If there is room you could have a new one built to fill up any extra space. Seems to me you should have at least 100 gals tank to start with. Search under "tank" and see what comes up. Good Luck Jon.

I owned a 77 Sceptre I/O and it had a 85 gal tank of which the specs said would give 72 gals useable. I would think your tank is larger than 58 gals. The 1978 spec sheet says a 40 gal optional tank was available as an option and it could be put in the forward storage well. The outboard model had a 100 gallon tank (useable gallons). If your tank is only 58 gallons then I think there has got to be more space under the floor for a larger tank. Good luck.
