raise or enclose transom
I have a 76 20' MA. I want to repower with a 25" shaft and get rid of the 20". this means either raising the transom 5" or closing it in and adding a bracket. I wanted to get some feedback to help make my decision. also i live in south FLA any recommendations on who i can talk with about cost to have this done. I don't have the fiberglass knowledge to do it myself.

Re: raise or enclose transom
Use the search function put in "transom" or "transom repair" you will find tons of info including people who do that kind of work near you.
I think Wildfire marine in Stuart, Fl is one. But there are others. Or you could do it yourself, buy enough beer and we will all help.

Re: raise or enclose transom
Ha Abe
That’s a hard one, most Co. left the minds at home when it comes to underwriting. It’s not how much power you have under the hood it’s how “reckless” you are with the power you have under the hood. But underwriters have a chart (not a brain) to determine eligibility of a new account. I would try someone (independent insurance agency) who specializes in marine accounts, that’s your best chance for success. Fellow-Ship |

Re: raise or enclose transom
Stranger,
I have a 74' 20ft classic and have just decided today to enclose my transome. Back in Feb. I thought about it and was given 2 names, Hermco in Jensen Beach, and from what I understand has a Seamark bracket system and Wildfire marine in Stuart. I've heard great things about both. Let me know what you find nd I will do the same in return. Tomorrrow I am going to try and contact Hermco and try to stop by his shop. Where in S. FL are you? I'm in Jupiter,if your close by maybe we can share some ideas and take a look at a couple of local boats that have had the same work. |
