Default Big Tilefish

Went fishing in the Hudson Canyon a little over one week ago aboard a 50 foot Viking. Nice boat. We did a 32 knot cruise (burn rate of 70 gallons per hour)out to the canyon and got there in 2.5 hours.

The boat has 3 bedrooms, AC and a bunch of other neat stuff.

Caught 1 60 LB Yellowfin. The fishing that saved the day for us was tile fishing. We used blackfish like rods and reels (including braid line) and bottom fished in 500 feet to 600 feet of water. In about 1.5 hours we got 30 tilefish (including the 43 pounder I am holding up in the below picture). Very cool, although I got a blister from so much reeling.

My favorite part of the trip was right after cleaning the boat and cutting the fish we got out the wasabi and soy sauce for a little fresh sashemi.
