Default Routing a steering cable on 23 Tsunami?

Has anyone replaced the steering helm and cable on a 23 Tsunami/Scepter I/O?.

As i get closer to installing the engine and drive,i'm wondering about the difficulty of routing the new cable from the helm to the transom plate.it's below the deck, and i want to keep it there

When i started the demo of my 74 Tsunami,i cut the cable at the helm, and left the remains under the deck, thinking that i could later use it as a snake to be able to attach the new cable to,and pull it thru the chase under the deck.

I would like to remove the old cable now,so that i could get the proper measurement for the new cable.I'm now thinking of tieing a piece of rope to it,and leaving that in it's place to use as a snake.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this, and did you have any problems pulling the cable thru. My deck is in good shape,so i won't be pulling that up.

I'm planning on running the controls and most of the wiring up thru the gunnels, but the steering looks like it's going to have to be below,in order to line up properly with the transom plate.

any info or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks all

Hydraulic hoses are much easier than a cable.....
but I think you could pull one in the channel under the starboard floor.

Definitely use the existing cable as a snake. I did the job trice on a Sceptre inboard, the first cable was a bit too short.
