New AR-15
With the election quickly approaching, I have fears about future gun laws. With that in mind I just custom ordered a new semi auto Spikes Tactical ar-15. It will be all black except with the punisher logo on the side. It will have flip up sights for now on the rail system with a scope/infared site in the future. Who knows what will change but if the law is going to change these things will shoot up in value. I know a year ago you could go to any gunshow or pawn shop and buy an ak-47 for 300 bucks, now they are anywhere from $500-$1300. Here is a great website to check out www.ar15.com and www.spikestactical.com is the website of the manufacturer that built my weapon. I am also looking into a fn f2000 but that is a whole new topic!

Re: New AR-15
Being a more economical person, I prefer the Simonov Type 45 carbine in 7.62x39. All types of ammo available for really cheap, from hollow points to armor piercing, in huge quantities. Very reliable, and will fire when smothered in mud, dirt, what-have-you. For reliability, it equals the AK47.
Forged and milled receiver versions are easily 'smithed to be made very accurate to 200+ yards. Purchase cost for a Yugoslavian, Russian, or Chinese milled version is still under $300 NEW !! Add a folding stock, good scope and mount, pick up a couple of 30 rd clips, and you're good to go. (If your really handy, I understand the sear can be made into a full auto-sear in about 30 minutes with nothing more than a good set of files, and achieve 600 rounds per minute. Even semi-auto, they can easily be cycled at about 240 rounds per minute. FMJ ammo is available for about 7 cents per round in bulk. Softpoint for about 11 cents, and hollow-point for about 13 cents. Spend $1000, have two very nice semi-auto folding assault carbines, and a thousand rds a piece. In Colorado, I took down a 280lb mule deer at 230 yards with an SKS. One shot. They are very practical weapons. But an assortment of weapons is generally a good idea.

Re: New AR-15
I have to confess that none of the weapons pictured in my post belong to me. My personal weapons are ALL antiques, as defined by Federal law. That is they were all manufactured before 1899, or are replicas of weapons manufactured before 1899, and so are "antiques", and not firearms.
On the other hand, my 1860 Colt Army .44 revolver replica, even though cap and ball, carries 384 ft.lbs of muzzle energy, more than a modern .38 special. With spare cylinders, it reloads in under 15 seconds, and so can be fired at about a rate of 25 rounds per minute. And because it is an "antique", the US District Court in New Orleans has ruled it may be carried concealed WITHOUT a concealed firearms license. There is no law against carrying a concealed antique. Here is my ANTIQUE 7X57mm Mauser, which has a receiver actually made in 1898, and a 24" cryo-relieved full-floating bull barrel. Nice tidy groups at 400 yds. I'll put this up against any modern Dragunov or Remington 700BDL out to 600 yards using my custom load 88gr. spbt ammo. I get a MV of 3950 fps, and an effective range of about 1000 yards, but accuracy falls off after 600-700 yards. Not the best caliber for 1000 yard shooting.

Re: New AR-15
I'm going to pick up at least couple AR lowers; the part with the serial number on it. Even with the old assault weapons ban you could still easily and legally buy everything else to build up a full AR-15 mail order, and I imagine this will still be true in the future. I do wish I had picked up a few of those Romanian WASRs.

Re: New AR-15
I wish that i never got rid of the rifles i had when i was young.I got out of hunting, and in to fishing, but recently, I've been thinking of getting into shooting.
I don't have anywhere near the knowledge about guns,as all you in the previous posts, but I remember a few of my favorites. A beautiful military 30.06 springfield.I loved that gun,had it all machined with a nice swirl finish,a custom stock. It shot very nice. We used to go to a gun shop in Connecticut, and buy military surplus ammunition for cheap, mostly armour piercing stuff.Didn't need any firearms cards or permits. Also had a nice Marlin lever action 44 Magnum rifle, why?,i don't know, but it was a blast to shoot, shot a few wood chucks with it,and dam, there wasn't much left. Others were a 223 and 243 Remingtons and a few shotguns. What the heck happened,Now we have to register all these things, and go thru reems of idiotic paperwork, depending on where you live, just to buy a gun. And,the crime rate is worse for gun crimes.Criminals don't give a s-it about the law,it's honest people who get screwed. And if this piece of crap gets elected as president, along with a democratic house and senate, all you gun owners are in for a bad time. McCain is no prize either, but at least he doesn't worship socialism,as Barrack hussien Obama does.Look how well it's worked for Europe. Screw Europe they made their bed,let them sleep in it,along with the huge population of radical Islamists that live along with them. This is what their "enlightend outlook gave them, and this is the same outlook that Obama has, after all he did say that he didn't come to Germany as a politician from the USA,but as a citizen of the world. Citizen of the world? Good, then get the hell out of America, and run for office in France,or Germany or somewhere in Africa. God forid

Don't be shy, tell us how you really feel!
I also don't have the expertise of the above posters but I agree with the above that if you take away our right to own guns only the criminals will have them. Here is my arsenal, Glock 17 Winchester 12 ga. pump |

Obama has said he supports Sen. Schumer's proposed 560% (yes, five hundred sixty percent) tax on "non-sporting" ammunition, including ALL handgun ammo and all mil-surplus FMJ rifle ammo.

Re: New AR-15
Within the constitution we have the right to keep and
bear arms !! What is not in there is the ammo Be sure you have a good supply of reloading supplies and equipment.... When the lead pot is on I pour lead jig heads and bullets.. This is why I chose to live on 6 acres in the middle of no where... The worst is yet to come.. God Bless America !!!! See ya, Ken
