Default One of a kind 1970 20' seafari- $8,000 firm *pics*

well the time has come for me to part with my beloved seafari. reason: i am getting a 30ft sailboat that i am going to make a self-sufficient live-aboard out of and eventually a world cruiser. i found the right boat this week and have cut a deal, so the seacraft must go. in case your interested this is the new boat http://www.alliedseawindii.org/pilot...SeawindPH.html

Now, about the seacraft, a little history. i bought the boat when i was 14 (2000/2001) and spent the next 4 years rebuilding it on and off. i finally finished and launched it in 2005 and have been fishing off it every chance i get.

the boat is a 1970 seafari that was an i/o, the previous owner had converted it to a bracketed outboard and rebuilt the transom with 2 layers of 3/4'' and a 3rd layer in the center. the original deck and stringers are still 100% solid, i fabed the deck where the i/o was and set up the live well. i built new cabin bulk heads (all 3) and a custom pod style helm. the boat has a stainless marine style bracket and a 2005 johnson (white suzuki) 140 4stroke.
right now it is a little under propped but performance is;
Cruise: 30mph; 4000rpm
W/O: 37mph; 5300rpm

the boat was painted with mothane paint (2 part) the paint job was decent until the guys who rigged the engine scratched it up in some spots

here is the good:
features:
- Hummingbird matrix GPS/FF
- Standard horizon VHF (in cabin)/command mic at helm
- Jensen am/fm - cd player - kenwood speakers
- seastar hydrualic steering (back mount helm)
- Shakespear galaxy antennas
- custom top with crows nest, 7 rod holders, taco grandslam (i think) outrigger bases with 15 heavyduty poles (not fiberglass) and all the rigging
- todd ladder back helm chairs
- 6 lee rod holders in gunnels (3 each side)
- 13 gallon livewell (plastic) in transom
- rule: 2000 gph bilge pump + 1100 gph manual/auto pump
- rule 700 gph livewell/washdown pump
- fortress anchor on nice stainless roller
- all hardware is suncor (316) stainless and looks new
- ssi tackle drawers in transome (next to live well)\
- perko l.e.d. cateye running lights
- 4 cockpit lights
- flatline clips on transom
- the engine has around 400 hours and has never missed a beat, i try to run it atleast once everyother week and it has never missed a beat, by all accounts that is just being broken in for this engine

here is the bad and the ugly:
trim tabs: the boat still has the original bennett trim tabs, i started to have problems a couple months ago, one tab works fine, and the other one with only work in one dirrections, i switched the hoses and the same thing happened to the other tab so it is obviously in the pump somewhere, i got the tabs in the neutral position and have just not used them since.
gauges: only the tach and water temp/pressure guages work.
the oil pressure (i think it is) and gas gauge were never hooked up.
transom: the transom is still very useable but it is not 100% solid, you can jump on the motor and there is no visible flex what so ever. there are a few soft spots on the sides but the center 3 layers are solid.
cosmetics: remember boats always look better in pictures, i would call this boat a 7/10, if you are looking for a 9.5-10 then this is not for you. this boat has been fished very hard for the last to year but also very well taken care of. i like to run the crap out of my stuff till something breaks, and then fix it, and keep fixing all the week links.

as you and see i did not spare any expense in putting this boat together, i just overlooked the transom a little. that being said the boat is still 100% useable in the condition it is in and i will fish it till it sells.

you can see that this is a very custom boat the i put alot of thought and even more money (north of 30k+) into. i would like to see it go to someone who appreciates it.

i am asking $15,000. thinking that you could spend 10 grand replacing the transom, curtains etc. and whatever else and you would have a boat you couldnt replace for 50k+. i feel that this is priced fairly for the market, if you do not then let me know. i feel i have done my best to disclouse the good the bad and the ugly so there are no suprises.

the boat is stored in a warehouse in west palm beach and can be seen any time, if you are serious we can make a fishing trip out of it, call Ben 561-801-6470 or [email protected] if you have any questions, fireaway

*success, i have mastered the art of posting pictures

trayder - if you email me your adress i will send you the $25 via snail mail, sorry, i kick it oldschool

ok, here are some more pics
i should also mention that everything else on the boat is new, and i mean everything except the seat pedistals, they are rock solid so i didnt even fuss with taking them off. but other then that every hose, clamp, wire, connector, teriminal etc is new...
also the trailer pictured is included in the price, the hubs are about a year old and i replaced the tires 3 months ago. we only tow about 10 miles each way to the ramp and ive taken in on some 50 mile trips, it works great for that, but i wouldnt reccomend it for much more then that.

Nice Seafari, and nice sailboat! I sailed that boat down from Virginia with its previous owner. That's a solid sailboat.

Disclaimer, I don't know the seller, though I'm sure he's a nice guy, he does own a seacraft.

Anyhow, I have seen this boat at Phil Foster ramp many times and have always lusted after it...what a beautiful boat! Really guys it's a looker!

Sad to see it leave this area, if it does I'll miss seeing her at the ramp.

Good luck with the sale and the sail...I've always wanted to do that.

Matt

thanks for the kind words tiny
the top was made by a guy named eric (one man show) forget the name of his company but he was based out of miami but now is in stuart or pt st lucie, right up your alley.

anyways i think i may have played down the boat to much in my origional post. just to clarify about the transom:
the center is solid and the right side was rebuilt professionaly (not by me) by great white boat co. before he painted the boat, how we both missed the other side i have no idea.

like i was saying i take really good care of my stuff, the motors is flushed after every used and the entire boat is cleaned like the mates clean a big sporty, everything is rinsed and dryed from the top of the tower to the water line, every time. she is never put up wet

the prop on it is a 14 X 19 and is about a year and a half old, but you wouldnt know by looking at it, it looks brand new. never grounded etc...

the 140 4 stroke is really the prefect engine, cruise all day at 5mpg. youll be wishing for a rig like this when gas hits 4 dollars+ again.

if you are thinking about buying or restoring a seafari you owe it to yourself to see this first.

i really need to sell this boat and realize i am going lose me a$$ on it, i have come to terms with that, reduced to $15,000, will entertain reasonable offers

sorry for making you guys squint, heres some bigger pictures.

the tower helps finding these guys!

after a long days work:

i know the market is soft and all but $15,000 for a restored potter hull rigged to the hilt with a modern 4stroke on a bracket, this has to be the deal of the decade.
