Default battery location/wire g

trying to figure the best location for batteries on 20 seafari I/O. currently in dry boxes in transom. want to put in cuddy. what would be the best gage wire to run?

while i dont have a seafari i do have my batteries in my console. i used a marine grade 4 gauge wire. im starting a 200 merc.

Welcome to the site, slingshot. 4 ga. may be adequate, but I'm not sure of your alternator set up, what your starter draws or how long the run from the battery to it will be. Without at least that much I don't think you can make a safe assessment.

Also consider checking out or buying Nigel Calder's "Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual". Probably the best $33 I have ever spent. Good luck! Where did you find your Seafari? and post some pics!

slingshot - thats exactly what i did on my seafari, if you can forgo the porta potty i would stick them in there, thats where mine are. for the cables, i will look next time im at the boat (today or tommorrow) but i want to say i used atleast 2ga.wire for those runs (might even be 2/0), might be overkill, but overkill is good.

p.s. i am also in west palm, you could check out my boat sometime if you want some ideas...

Ben. yeah i want to check you boat out. get some ideas. Gilli- i have pictures but trying to figure out how to post them. I bought the the boat last tue on craigs list. cheap.
