Classic Seacraft Restoration
Hey Everyone, I am pretty new to the classic seacraft world but I found a boat locally for a fair price that was restored in 05. My question is what are the major things to beware of when purchasing a classic seacraft, especially one that was restored by someone else. I know this boat had an IO, but now has an armstrong bracket on the back. Is there anything to be aware of or reinforcements that I should look for with the restoration? Thanks for your help, and I am looking forward to my first seacraft purchase

You might want to invest in a professional survey. Not all restorations are created equal and a surveyor will know what to look for.

Sam,
Let the group know where you are so that they may be able to recommend a surveyor that is particularly familiar with assessing re-cons and seacrafts in general. Not all surveyors have equal strengths/specialties.

Thanks, I am in Stuart, Fl. I do not believe the boat was listed on here. It was advertised locally. I would appreciate any surveyor recommendations. Biggest fear is getting something that is ready to go and find out that it needs a major repair. Should this one not work out I will be looking for one on here.

Shoot a PM to member Fiberglass1. Dan The Man. He does beautiful work and he knows a thing or two about our children.

insist on a surveyor of full restoration boats, or just call Don Herman from Hermco. He is nearby and will know more than anyone else on that exact boat.

Sounds good, I spoke with him last week and now that we have agreed to a price I am going to bring it by him for the final ok. It is going to need a little bit of work so good to know there is a good shop nearby.
