Best price for Fiberglass Resin/fiberglass
So I just started the rebuild process of my 77 20 MA (pulled the cap off) and found all sorts of bad boat rebuilding-Shoddy rotting transom repair, cutting of the upper hull, bad floor, and the list goes on. I will need to fix these items and it looks like I will need a few gallons(more than a few) of resin and fiberglass. Bondo brand sells 1 gallon for $42 at Ace hardware, anyone know a better deal out there?
Thanks Jon |

LBI in Groton has all the resins, fabrics and supplies you will need. Nice folks as well.

You are better off to buy your supplies from a specialty dealer, likely to be much better quality. Try googling US Composites. Very reasonable prices and easy to deal with. Shipping might be high; they are in Florida.

I have a 55 gal drum of hydropel high performance vinyl ester resin for a few projects and have been selling it to some of the local guys for $30 a gallon. It normal cost twice that. If you are in the NC area you are welcome to some.

X3 on Mertons, although Im a bit partial as he's a friend. He was however a huge help with my restoration, and taught me how to lay up glass.
He's not that far from you, (Springfield Ma.) If you want to pick up supplies, or if you order stuff, he ships same day.A great guy to deal with, with tons of knowledge, and very good pricing And stay away from resins from brands like bondo. As mentioned stick with specialty marine suppliers, far better quality, and much better pricing.42.00 for polyester resin is way overpriced, and not of quality equal to marine resin. The resins sold in hardware or big box stores can many times be out of date, and they also tend to be thicker, and don't wet out glass as well..

try calling composites one . . . I have bought from the Bristol RI location. If I remember correctly . . . It was about $120 for an iso poly resin.
