Replacing floor in a 23 Seacraft?
So I have ripped the floor out of the boat and inspected all the stringers which they look good! Thank god!..... My plan is to replace the floor and raise it at the same time. The way I plan on doing this is to let the new floor sit on a 2" lip at the bottom of the gunnels all the way around the boat. One of the questions is..... For people that have done this before.... What type of material do you put between the stringers and the new deck. When I took the old floor out there were big blobs of resin with glass sandwich between the deck and stringers. There were approx. 12 to 15 blobs randomly place under the floor. I plan on using a fir wood in the new deck. 1 layer of woven riven on the bottom and 2 layers of 1.5 oz on top, tabbed into the gunnels all the way around the deck. I also plan on grassing my centerconsole down along with the leaning post. I had thought about using a glue to attach the new floor the new blobs).....does anyone have any recommendations? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
