Default G2 Evinrude

I don't know about y'all but that thing is hideous. It looks like it belongs on some experimental boat. I hope at least it's fast! I say they bring back the V8....

You think the 300 makes 300 this time? Etec 300 was more like 275. Unacceptable when the competition delivers the goods for the same or less money. LOL! I don't want to hear some 10% rule/excuse either. It is or it isn't and everything else is false advertisement.. Actually it doesn't matter to me I would never be able to afford one. Kinda looks like the cowl is a piece of Samsonite luggage. Name: uglyevinrude_zps0d03b5ac.jpg

Don't worry, I was told the packaging on the G3 is going retro for a more classic look.

Yepper, the owner before me had her equipped with the V8. Not quite sure which would of got rid of fuel faster, running it at 30 knots or pouring it over the side.

Amazing how poor a fuel economy they really got back then. Not to give you all more fuel against the Mercury fire you have burning over here but I got a 250 EFI that will do a gallon justice in about a minute. The old 90 crossflow Johnnyrude wasn't much better if any. Both stack up between 1.6 and 2 MPG -- AVERAGE. Yeeeeeouch!

I know how you feel. I felt the same way when Mercury Hurricanes were green and had fins and then they came out with the white ones that leaned forward and they were just too modern looking! But they did have a neutral and reverse.
OMC came out with a V-4 50 Hp that had fake exhaust ports like a Buick Roadmaster, so it was cool look'in but it had a toothed belt driven distributor so if you cavitated them and they over rev'd you would throw the belt off. Not an ideal engineering set-up, but they had those cool exhaust ports to look at while you were git'in towed in. The Homelite Bearcats scared all us old guys away from 4S, because the oil fell out the bottom seal on the Crosleys. (well except GFS who's look'in for a couple of low hour ones for the 21) Jeff, we is always on the cutt'in edge of technology. However, over the decades, Engine Designers and Marketing Gurus when forced to work together have been known to scrape the "guard rail" on the Learning Curve of Style, try'in to get to the summit of "Form Follows Function".

The trick to getting powah outtah 2 smokes is porting and exhaust. Oh and lots of rpm.
In had old rd yammis and you could take them to 10k.

The new 250 HO makes 600 ft lbs of torque. Yes 600.

I would not be surprised if they have seen 350 and 400 hp from these.

These have all intakes starboard and all exhausts port side. You can bet they have pushed these just a tad. The emissions are reduced by 75%. That is impressive.
