WTB: Stainless Hull Vents

It seems like some guys also have vents that appear narrower and longer than the standard issue with 5 Vs. Do they both fit the same? Where can you find replacements? Doesnt seem like there are any on ebay that fit.

I searched indepedently and that included the site provided, which for some reason does not list measurements. Rather than spend 160 on a site that I have zero experience with, I figured I would first check with what is usually a very helpful audience.

The cutouts on your 76 might be too large. You most likely will need to form a backing to cover them. I did mine with 1/4" PVC Board and painted them.

Let me walk you through this.....

If I was to replace my black plastic vents with SS I would think about going with the SS Sea Dog vents listed on the above web site, they look cool, then I click on the Sea Dog link and I see they will not fit at 12 7/8 x 4 1/2 dimensions exactly in my hull cut outs. Wait....there is a plastic chrome plated Attwood option available at a crazy $32 that looks like the ones I have. That would be an easy and rather overpriced solution for the look of SS, except sometimes they get bumped into docks and being plastic they break, let me think about that for a minute. Just for grins.....let me double check the sizes of the black versus the chrome plated Attwood vents, I Google Attwood boat vents and boom, they have black, off white and chrome plated all the same size, however at the stupid number of $30 ea at West Marine. I assume you have experience with WM? Too be even more helpful, if I was going to go with the SS look I would go with Capt. Chucks suggestion and use the SS recessed vents or low profile vents with a custom made backing plate. I'm on my third rear port side vent because of dock damage, next one might be recessed. Spot on Don. That's the reason why mine were not outside the rub rail. PVC board backing is easy & cheap (You like that word as its tattooed on your ass) to make. It glues to the plastic vents using pvc cement. Nice seam, sand & paint. If it ever gets damaged, oh well, make another. BTW, I got the vents for $8 each at the local marine parts outlet ! (now your really salavating !)
