Bennett Tab paint?
I've had Bennet tabs for years on my 'ole girl - 12x12's.
After a few years of unpainted SS, I decided to paint them to reduce the exposure of the add'l SS near my Bravo 3 ( boat is in the brine for 7 months ). I sanded them well and immediately used the Interlux Interprotect 2000 and then used Tri-lux anti fouling. Needless to say, its never been ideal and finally it needs to be stripped and redone. The inter protect in spots has come off and this year it's not worth spot repairing. Anybody have a better mouse trap ? I was thinking powder coating ? Or going with the Interprotect again ? |

The interlux 2000e is a good product. If you go back the same way make sure you scuff the surface of the tabs real well before applying the primer down. If you get enough tooth for the primer to grab into it may stay on there longer. Use like a 36 grit and puts some good scratches on them so shes got something to bite to.

Sounds like a plan - I might get it sand blasted then do this.
Should I etch the SS with something before I use the IP ? |

The 2000e is good to lay directly on the ss. I would do 4-5 coats of 2000e and build it up to 10 mils
Here is a link to the PDF file for the recommended uses and procedures of it: https://j109.org/docs/interprotect-2000e.pdf

Thx for the PDF = trying to read the tiny small print on the can is almost impossible. I just dropped the tabs off to my sand blaster ( this is a treat to myself as I just wasn't into the sanding part of this ! ) - and then I'll do the IP2000e process.
I did speak to Interlux today to ask if I should put Primocon primer on before the antifouling - the answer was a definitive NO. He said go straight with Trilux - |
