Default Completely open deck behind console

Does anyone have a deck with nothing on it? Like to seat. no leaning post. Nothing. I think on a boat this size (20) having such a huge back deck with no obstructions would be great. If you have done this, do you miss having a seat or post? Does it feel comfortable in rough water?

I did this on my 21 Paramount Superfish and was much happier with the room. Now that I am older and am done with CCs and prefer to sit in a nice chair and let the autopilot do the work.

I removed the seats in my old 20 seafari, never missed'em. Outboard powered, so the deck was as open as it could get, but after a couple of big fish boxes, tanks, gun racks, etc., it was pretty full.

I did that for a little while, it was great with all the room, but eventually you will need to sit/ lean on something

That's what I'm worried about. I guess it depends on how you use the boat. I wonder if there's a good way to make a leaning post easily removable.

MORE FAKE NEWS !
On the way home Ken's sits in a folding camping chair with armrests, back against the transom with his feet propped up un the gunnels and a stogie going while his Main Squeeze Mel sits in the capiain's chair watches ahead to make sure the autopilot doesn't run over anything. Sometimes when it's all clear, she brings him a sandwich. IT IS AWESOME! A dead straight wake laid out behind to the sunset, Zuke yodeling a melody, fish in the box and sipping a beer. That's the way Kmoose rolls.

I did it on mine. I love it for fishing! With the 20MA mega console and a leaning post it was claustrophobic before. Now I can have a 5 gallon pail and 2 tackle boxes and still fight fish on the deck. I put a seat on a 5 gallon pail. But I never use it. It isn't like you are going to sit down piloting in Buzzards Bay, and usually I am trolling singlehanded so a leaning post would get in the way.

My original statement was factual but lacked the details.... You forgot to mention that Mel's other duty at the helm is to mark any spikes that show up on the screen in case Terry and I need to make one more drop to cool off.
