maiden voage of my restored 1978 20 MA
With the help of so many forum members I completed the restoration of my 1978 MA 20 last week. What started as a repower, rewire and clean turned into a new transom, decks, console restoration, all new electronics, leaning post, new fuel tank and complete dock and safety refit. Took her boat camping off of cape cod over the labor day weekend and she performed flawlessly. It was worth every penny and every hour I spent grinding, cutting, swearing and drinking.
Thanks everyone for your advice! |

Thanks. I only painted the transom after replacement. The boat was painted red sometime in the 80's (originally it was white). At first I was not enthralled with the color, but I've come to appreciate it being different. Up in my part of the northeast, it's not to common to see any red boats that aren't Coast Guard. At ten feet, the boat looks mint, but upon close inspection you can see 20 years or so of wear on the hull paint. This is my first SeaCraft and I couldn't be happier with the way the boat turned out.

Hey, Capecafe - looks sweet. Where did you go camping? Maybe Washburn Island? They have some very nice campsites.

Yep. We were at Washburn. It's a great place to boat camp. Easy to get to and easy to pick people up who need a ride out to the island. The bitch is reserving sites. You have to be on ReserveAmerica.com 6 months before your planned camping dates to try and get a site. They only have 10 sites on the island.

I have not spent the night, but over the years have beached there for picnics on the long sweep of sand to the right of the main beach. We have been there on weekdays when only one or two sites were occupied, and even a Saturday in August when half the sites were empty. Of course, those were not Labor day! Enjoy.

She sure looks nice. You did a remarkable job.
I love the red with the black. My Tsunami is the same color(original red).Guys tell me they can see my boat a long long way. The coast guard of both the US. and Canada are pretty active on the Great Lakes and I've had a lot of other boats tell me they kept their distance from me because they thought I was a coast guard boat. It works for me, less traffic when we're fishing.
