My Latest Addition
Hey all. I got tired of waiting to finish my 20' cc so I bought an aquasport. Now I'm tired of the aquasport so I bought 20' Sceptre! I love the layout. Its an original old boat so it's not without its battle wounds but I'll get it into shape quickly. It is a fully functioning boat at least. I did pay all the money for it, but they aren't easy to find and it wasn't totally unreasonable. The trailer I towed in home on was terrifying but we made it. It was clearly too small for the boat. I can lift the tongue with one hand. Made for slow highway driving.
First order of business is to replace the two scupper tubes. the lower part of both has rotted off. I'm pretty certain that is why the bilge pump was cycling every so often. The transom drain tube is also rotten, and I'm sure the transom is wet because of it. For now there isn't any flex, but I'll be doing a transom in the next year or 2 I'm sure. I'm super in love with the color, and with a quick buff I'm sure itll shine right up, although it's really in great shape already. So far every screw I've seen into a core has sealant on it, and Im sure that is why the deck is solid as a rock. The gas tank hatch, however, is toast so I'll have to recore it. No problem. Powered by an Optimax 175, which at first I was a little worried about the weight but then saw it is only 410 lbs. On to the good stuff. Meant to post in "general" maybe a mod can move?

Love the color! I can't speak for everybody and I'm not a Mercury guy but I had twin 1999 optimax on a previous boat but I never had a single issue with. Furthermore they sipped fuel. Post some pictures of the interior of that when you can. Congratulations on the new ride!
