Default Vinyl Gunnel Trim

Anyone know where I can obtain about 15' of the 1" vinyl (teak grain Look) gunnel trim from the late 70's CC models.

After mine had started to peel, I stripped it with acetone and then 2 part epoxy painted it to match. I will be enclosing my transom and want to continue the trim across the back. Thanks for any input. I will pay cost and shipping.

Is it the U channel type or an actual strip?

Hi Rich

It is a flat strip made of vinyl, not wood, plastic or metal. There is no lip or U to it. Originally it appeared to be adhered with double face tape and small s/s screws every few inches. I have not seen any other SeaCrafts where this material was used. I don't think it was an after-market deal

BTW: Did you check on the availability of the mono and monel line

Captain Chuck, my '79 MA had the same material and needs to be replaced. Carried that same piece in back of my truck for two years now- haven't seen anything like it. Saw a picture of a sweet idea while looking at a post regarding "speaker location". Someone on this site ran what appears to be either stainless or polished aluminum rubrail inside in same location-looks sweet. Price between two is not too bad, my question is; Is the hand rail on my SC stainless in need of polishing, or is it possibly aluminum? Thanks, Vezo.

Do you still have it and if so, will you part with it

That was mine. I think you asked me about it. I explained that it was not stainless rail because I felt it would get hot or rough against the knees.

I painted it with a couple of coats of Signature finish. That's why I need more of that cool stuff too continue the same across the transom

I would think that it would not be difficult to distinguish between the two metals

Hey Capt. Chuck, how are ya? I failed to mention that the piece that I saved is only about 16 inches long (inside gunnel below rear hatches). I think I tossed the rest of the material but you are welcome to this if it helps you out. Be back on duty Sunday. Vezo.

Capt Chuck, I used a plain black vinyl trim ? Wood Grain ? I got some Mighty Rough sand paper ! It's not that $ under $2. a foot comes in 20' sections.has a small lip to catch under the gunnel.
