trim / tilt issue
Hi guys,
Need some advice on an issue I am having with my 1993 175 Evinrude. The trim / tilt crapped out and I am not sure if there is a fuse in relation to the trim / tilt. The tilt motor was not making any funny noises at all (which usually happens before they die). A friend of mine did however turn the batteries on when he had already turned the tilt switch on - which makes me think there is a fuse which may be blown. With the cowling off - i can hear the trim switch make a clicking sound in the motor like a light switch going on / off but nothing else? Any ideas? Thanks BTW - it was working 100% perfect prior to the battery turn on situation. |

Re: trim / tilt issue
I'm running a 1996 150 Johnson Faststrike. Last year I lost the ability to tilt the engine up but still had the "down". Upon inspection under the shroud I found two solenoids on the top of the engine. I switched them around and the problem reversed itself. I spent the rest of the day rotating them to salvage a day on the water. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I don't recall if there was a "click" or not but it might be worth picking a couple up and putting them on to see if it fixes your problem. I carry two spares with me all the time now. I don't know the part numbers for them off hand but if you would like them I can check them out tonight.

Re: trim / tilt issue
check the grounds. When you find the relays there should be a ground to the motor in that area. clean it with a wire brush. see if that helps.

Re: trim / tilt issue
Hey guys,
Got it fixed. There are two wires from the relay which have a connector - the connector was corroded, thats all the issue was - cost me a case of beer. Thanks for the help, |
