I screwed up my paint job
Well,i proceeded to spray the topsides, deck, and interior,of my 74 Tsunami, with two part urethane.
After what seemed like an eternity, masking everything off,i mixed up the paint and activator, and gave the boat a couple of coats. I was extremely happy with the outcome,a very good shine, and a tiny bit of orange peel, that i could live with. So this morning,i wet sanded it and sprayed on another coat,i figured three coats would be good. Well from the get go i had nothing but horrible results,It wasn't atomizing right, and i was getting a terrible flat type of finish. Same gun settings, and thinner ratio, and a beautiful day, temp in the mid seventies,no wind,no dust. I ended up mixing another quart of paint, and increased the pressure going into the gun(gravity feed hvlp,1.5m nozzle) to 40lbs and it seemed to be much better, but at this point,I'm not real happy with the finish. One area has a pretty big curtain, and another some bad orange peel. Now i have about four coats on the top,and don't want to put anymore on it(i'll go broke). What are the possibilities of wet sanding out the curtain and orange peel, and then buffing it to a nice finish? The paint is a two part urethane made by Epifanes, and is a very similar formulation as Imron or Perfection. I mean it sure looks better than it did before i started the restore, but i was so happy with the results yesterday, and today I'm completely disgusted. Any advice would be helpful. Here's some pictures of yesterdays results. The pictures aren't great,as it was getting towards dusk but you can get the idea.I didn't even try to take any today.

Re: I screwed up my paint job
Thanks Chuck,
I'm probably obsessing a bit.I'll give that sanding and 3m perfect it a try. I'm Getting close to the finish now, install the tower, the electronics, shoot the hull, and some other random stuff, and hope to test it out before fall.
