If the mosquitos down there are like the ones here in NC and I'm sure they are just as bad, they are around most any month. I was out working on my boat at dusk the other day and they were awful. Its been in the teens at night many times this year. It sounds as you are planning a great trip but I'd plan on the mosquitos being around. Hope you have a great time and have fun.

Just remember one thing: Mosquitos Hate SMOKE!!! Find a place that enjoys smoldering campfires all day long. Normally, they are at their worst at dusk.

Up there they were called "No-See-Ums". Down here they're called (Sand) Gnats, have teeth like a Great White and are with us all day long above 68*. Yes, Short sleeve weather. Kindly refer to Rule Number 1! And pack every long sleeved white T-Shirt you own!

Great time of year for this type of trip. Carry on.

Postcript:

Matthew screwed us up. I planned a week in the boat, mostly around St Catherines and Sapelo. Recheduled for Mosquito Lagoon for a shorter trip, but Matthew's timing was perfectly bad, would have been there about the same time. We ended up in Cayo Costa, not far south of us, dodging red tide.

Thanks to all who offered advice. We will try this again.
