Default King of the Beach

I am entered into the King of the Beach Kingfish Tournament in Madeira Beach FL this weekend. Seems like this small cold front will move through Friday night and leave us with some pretty strong NE breezes for tournament day. I have heard old wives tales that the bigger kings will move in closer to the beach in these conditions as the bait pods will move in closer to get behind the lee of the land. Any truth to this? I would hate to head out 15 miles is I only need to go 1 to get on a smoker!

Any advise would be appreciated!

There is some hard bottom in 25-35' between Blinds Pass and Passagrille. Try that or the ditch just west of Egmont. There is some hard bottom real close in between Anna Maria and Longboat Pass. Catch-em-up Captain and good luck. Go make us proud. Remember, two years ago the King of the Beach was won by a guy in a 1978 30' T-Craft. Made the Contender, Yellowfin, Intrepid and SeaVee
Captians look seasick - and they were standing on the dock!
